DC++ is a p2p client, based on the Direct Connect protocol, which can be used for downloading, sharing, and searching multimedia files on the DC network.

The Direct Connect network is a decentralized network, made up of individual servers (hubs) that users join to share files with other members on that hub. Each hub is individually run by a fellow user of the Direct Connect network, and may have certain themes to the content on the hub. Hub owners set up rules to regulate their hub as they see fit. Among many features of DC++, most notable ones are support for segmented downloads, resuming, discovery of alternate sources, great search engine, bookmarking of favorite users, and wide array of security and transfer services that can make file sharing and downloading as seamless as possible.

DC++ managed to completely dominate Direct Connect community by taking over 90% of market share in 2008 and constantly innovating with introduction of new features and services that enable easy sharing, discovery of files, download management, community options and ability to customize your file sharing experience completely. Even today, after so many years on the market, DC++ represents the very basis of Direct Connect community, with dozens of other standalone clients using DC++ code as their base (ApexDC++, AirDC++, LinuxDC++,TkDC++ and many others).

With user interface that promotes easy discovering, sharing and communicating with other members of the Direct Connect community, DC++ represents the best way for novices and seasoned internet users to share their libraries of content one with another. Below are some of its features:
